Effluent:
            Effluent is the stream of excess chemical liquor extracting from textile dye house after using in actual treatment like pretreatments, dyeing, finishing etc.

Effluent Treatment Plant
            Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) is a plant by which waste water is treated in order to make the waste water environmental friendly. Effluent Treatment makes sure that water releases meet Bangladesh Environmental Association water quality standard. It is very important and essential to keep the environment pollution free. Now a day ETP is the most important term to set a textile industry. Government, Environmental Association and foreign buyers are creating pressure to set ETP in every textile industry. So to ensure the proper growth of textile sector and pollution free environment every textile industries have to set up an ETP.
Effluent Treatment Plant  at GTA SPORTS LTD:
            In GTA Sports LTD the ETP is built up by the combination of the method namely biological, chemical and physical separation method in order to make treatment more effective.

Chemical Used:
Ø  Lime and ferrous sulphate

DIFFERENT PART OF THE ETP & THEIR FUNCTION:

1. Equalizer tank: In these tanks the waste water is carried in and started. Then by means of the blower air is blown through it to reduce oxidation temperature.

2. Flash mixing tank: Here, four chemicals are mixed with the waste water
a. Ferrous Sulphate:   Feso4 aids lime to change the color of water
b. Lime:   It decolors the water & destroys the germs.
c. acid:   For controlling pH of liquor it is used.
d. Polyelectrolyte’s:   It is used to increase precipitation rate. It is very costly chemical.

3. Floccution tank(lagoon) : Here, sludge become bigger under the action of polyelectrolyte & separate them from water.

4. Tube settler tank: The main function of this tank is to settle down the sludge.

5. Biological reaction tank 1 &2: Make the bacteria work & waste to make it into the sludge.

PROCESS description:
v PRIMARY TREATMENT:
Coagulation & flucculation  : Here coagulant like lime [Ca(OH)2] & Ferrous Sulphate [ FeSO4] are used.The basic idea of adding coagulant is to bring together all the suspended and dyed particles so that they can be precipitated out in the flash mixing tank by coagulation & flucculation mechanism.
Precipitation and sedimentations in tube settler -1:  the effluent will be further flow by overflow system to pH correction tank & pH maintained from 7 to 8.
